OpenClaw is an open-source personal AI assistant that runs on a Mac Mini in your office. You text it from Telegram, WhatsApp, or iMessage, and it handles your inbox, calendar, invoices, and follow-ups 24/7. No monthly SaaS fee. No cloud. It was originally released in November 2025 as ClawdBot before Anthropic forced a rename in early 2026.

Why Is It Called OpenClaw?

The project launched as ClawdBot. Anthropic, which makes Claude, sent a trademark request because the name was too close to their brand. The maintainers renamed it MoltBot for a few weeks, then settled on OpenClaw in January 2026. Every version is the same software with the same features.
